Christmas 2011

 This Year
*  we had our big Christmas dinner on the 23rd, due to the fact that we have wonderful people in our family that dedicate their days helping others less fortunate. This year they had to work on Christmas.
* we celebrated our annual x-mas eve tradition of hot chocolate and lights. So much fun.
* we made mint chocolate bark (see here). Melt in your mouth.
* crafted new decorations (see here).
* enjoyed the weather. We are so lucky in So. Cal!
* It was all about family. We had a great Christmas with wonderful memories to carry us into the new year.

I hope your holidays were equally memorable. I have many goals swirling around in my head. Lists are being made. Resolutions are set. New beginnings are exciting. What are your dreams for the new year?

DIY Christmas Stars

I was inspired by a star I found on Pinterest.  I tracked the tutorial to this beautiful website grey luster girl.  My mom and daughter created the stars out of a random star template. They just drew a star then cut it out of card stock. We only made one sided stars.
Then I spray painted them with sparkley glitter.

We used the stars to decorate. They turned out really beautiful and were so easy to make.

This is a great last minute decoration to use on gifts too! I hope your December is going wonderfully.

Wonderful Gift DIY

This is a super easy and SUPER melt in your mouth DIY. All you need is:

To avoid a funky color we separated the chips.

My boy helped me here.

My sister poured the melted chocolatey goodness on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Then sprinkle on the crushed candy canes.

Refridgerate for 30 minutes, you can "check" on it and chip off the edges to clean it up. :)
Eat, share, package and give as gifts!
Cute and easy. This will bring smiles out everywhere. Check out the awesome star adorning the gift. Yes, another easy peasy DIY coming soon!
I hope your holiday season is off to a great start.

Wonderful Fall

We decided to go for a beautiful walk and capture some Fall moments before the season slips away as fast as it arrived.

Like most years we are in denial that it is actually Fall. We try to squeeze every last bit of summer in.
Eventually, when all the leaves have fallen we accept that the season has changed. That's when the fun begins.
We found some mushrooms in a perfect Fall color.
I hope you are having a beautiful season.

DIY Bookcover

credit: Pugley Pixel template

Here is a great way to re purpose a paper bag. We made a book cover old school style for my daughters school book, then added duct tape to modernize it. Here's how:

1. Supplies: paper bag, scissors, book, duct tape, and ruler.
2. Cut down one side of bag then cut bottom out.
  •  Lay bag flat with logo facing inside ( if you do not want logo to show).
  •  Put book in the middle of bag. Fold the top down and make a crease at top of book.
  •  Repeat for bottom.
  • Take book off and fold top and bottom flaps at crease.
  • Put book back in center of paper, it should fit nicely lengthwise.
  • Fold left side of paper over book to cover the front of book.
  • Fold again at the edge of the book.
  • Slide the hard cover page of the book inside the folded cover.
  • Repeat on back side.
3. Tape edges of paper bag closed so the bag doesn't open up.
4. Use duct tape to decorate the outside, get creative!
Have Fun!

    Fear, If, and Letting Go

Fear, if, and letting go are all obstacles that I need  to conquer, because a dance with the wind for a day and a night would not be such a bad thing.

Wonder Where I Got My Blog Bling?

Being relatively new to the digital design world and still trying to find my identity within it, I find it hard to keep all the tutorials and resources organized. Many times when I want to refer back to a specific blog or website, I waste hours trying to locate it. It's a big world out there in digi space! I have decided to try and develop a collective of inspiring and helpful links. I will start with my header here.

     Thank You To:
The beautiful sequins: Katrina of Pugly Pixel for a set of FREE sequins brushes.
Font: Who Needs Consistancy ( I can't remember where this is from )
